Another week has come and gone, and we are almost into fall.  Maybe you're thinking like me, "Where did summer go?"  It seems that just yesterday it was Easter!  We will see those leaves falling soon.  In fact, some  are already falling here.  And that brings us to today's reveal over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Our die cut challenge this time is "Rake, Pile, Jump!"  I found this picture of our granddaughter from several years ago and decided to use it with the title "Catch You Later, Mr. Leaf."  Here are the details:

Finally . . . The Perfect Dress Layout

It's Friday again, and time for another die cut challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Today, our challenge is all about fruit.  I debated on doing a birthday card with peaches saying, "Hope your birthday is just peachy," or maybe a card with bananas saying, "Go bananas on your birthday!"  But, in the end, I decided to use this sweet picture of our granddaughter and my hubby together with a title "Love You To The Core."  I really like how it turned out, and it was so fun to do a layout instead of a card.  Here are the details:

I'm Your Advocate

TGIF my blogger friends!  Today I am sharing with you a scrapbook page.  Yes, you read that right.  It's not a card.  It's a layout!  This is the first one I've done in quite some time, and I so enjoyed it.  This is my submission for the latest die cut challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Our theme is "Love."  Who can't do a card or a layout about love?  So, come on, join us!  Let's see your project!

Here's the story behind my layout.  We have a beagle named Lexi.  She was given to our youngest daughter for her 19th birthday by a boyfriend.  Six months earlier, we had lost our Yorkie of 14 years, and of course I was still grieving over her.  When our daughter brought Lexi into our house late one night, wrapped in a towel, she weighed 2 1/2 pounds.  She was the cutest little puppy ever!  But, I told my daughter that her Dad would not allow her to keep her.  She kept her in her bedroom for 3 days before he knew about her.  When she finally showed Lexi to him, he told her that she could not keep the dog.  She asked if she could keep her until she could find a home for the puppy, and my husband agreed to that.  Of course she never found a home for her -- because she never tried!  During the time that Lexi was a puppy, our daughter was never home, and she became my responsibility.  Then at age 22, our daughter got married.  Her husband is not a dog lover and would never have a dog in the house.  So, Lexi officially became my dog.  You can read my journaling below.

When you came to our house in 2005 as a two and a half pound puppy, I didn’t think I could love a beagle.  Boy, was I wrong.  I fell in love almost immediately.  Even though you were Whitney’s dog, I was the one that took care of you most of the time, chased you from under the bed, took shoes away from you before you chewed the toes out of them, took toilet paper from you, etc. because Whitney was always out with friends. When Rick said you were dumb, I said you were smart.  I tried to prove to him that he was wrong.  You learned tricks.  You proved that you were a good dog.  In my eyes, you are stubborn, yet very smart.  In fact, I’ve called you “Rick, Jr.” numerous times when you have stood on the steps and looked at me as if to say, “Maybe I’ll come inside; maybe I won’t!”  When others thought you were a pest, I told them you were sweet.  When others thought I was crazy for having a dog in the house, I defended you and said, “But you’re just not a dog lover like I am.”  And when something happens to you, I will be heartbroken, even more so than when Sassy died.  Why? Because I am your advocate.

Fabulous Fall Fun

Happy, happy Friday!  Today is another reveal day over at Stuck On U Sketches.  This week's challenge was to use a leaf or leaves on our project.  I just happened to have these adorable pictures of my granddaughter that I took in 2008 that were waiting to be used on a layout.  I love it when it works out that way.  Here are the details of the layout:

Patterned papers:  Basic Grey (Origins), My Mind's Eye, DCWV (Rustic Stack)
Leaves:  Flower Shoppe for the large and medium size leaves (cut at 7 1/2" and 2") and for two of the three flowers.  I used a flower punch to make the leaves behind the flowers.  (The third flower is a Recollections flower.)  I ran the leaves through my crimper to give them some texture.

Tree:  Bloom Lite cartridge cut at 2" layered on a 2" circle and a 2 1/2" scalloped circle cut using the Mini Monograms Cricut cartridge

Fair Fun

I suppose it doesn't take much to excite me, since I was so excited to find the time this weekend to make a layout.  It's been almost 3 months since I've done a page, so this was a treat for me.  Of course the thrill was taken away a little when I went to pick the layout up from my coffee table yesterday, and obviously glue had been on the back of the layout, which made it stick to my coffee table!  AARRGGHH!!  I don't know how that happened!  Now I have three spots on the table with red card stock and Fabri-Tac glue!  I've tried UnDu, rubbing alcohol, and an oily furniture polish, but so far, it's only removed about 1/2 of the mess, and I can see that it is hurting the finish on the table.  If you know of a magical formula to remove the glue, please let me know!

Engagement Photo Shoot

What fun I had doing this layout.  When I saw sketch no. 9 over at Sketch Support I fell in love!  I think it was the wavy line that drew me in.  I love that kind of thing.  I, of course, made it my own by using three photos, but really like the end result!

A Sand-Tastic Day

I found time this weekend to scrapbook, so I made a two pager!  I used to always do two page layouts.  Lately I've done more one page layouts, but sometimes there are just too many photos for one page. These photos were taken at Myrtle Beach, SC in 2008.

30 Years

I made a layout!  Woo hoo!  This simple layout has pictures from a little celebration that our daughters had at our house for our 30th anniversary.  When I looked at these pictures, I thought, "What was I thinking wearing my hair like that?" Ha.  I'm so far behind on my scrapbooking now.  This was a few years ago.

Here are a few details on the layout (click on the picture to get a better look):

Flower Vine:  Some are actually on the paper.  The ones next to the photo on the left were made with a Martha Stewart border punch (given to my by my friend Jane for my birthday -- love it!).  I added Stickles on the flowers and some gems in the middle of each flower)
Flowers:  A combination of handmade and a Prima (white).  The centers are the miniature roses from I Am Roses.
Font:  Baby Steps Cricut cartridge

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again.  I love sketches.  And Allison Davis' sketches over at Sketch Support are some of my favorite two page sketches.  I did this layout a week or so ago, but have had such a tough time getting pictures of it.  If anyone can help me figure out how to get the angle right on my layouts so that they really are a true square (for one pagers) or rectangle (for two pagers) when I get ready to crop them, I'd love you forever.  :o)

This layout is from my daughter's birthday in 2008.  Yikes!  I keep getting further and further behind in my scrapbooking.  But I love making cards, so I suppose it's all good.  Someday I'll actually start on an album for my grandson, who is already 17 months old!  This was my daughter's last birthday at home before she got married, and we celebrated at a local Mexican restaurant.  You know the drill -- sombrero on your head, singing away while they either beat you on the head or move your head back and forth.  So, I used a bit of Mexican flair for the title to my layout.  Thanks to a co-worker (thanks Harriet), I found the sombrero on one of my Cricut cartridges, and added it this weekend.  Here's how the layout was made:

Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned paper:  DCWV Cotton Blossom Stack (I love these papers.)
Fonts:  Happy Birthday - Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge (I put hearts over the little faces, since they didn't really cut well so small); Senorita - Wrexham Script (The accent mark -- I hope it's correct -- was cut by cutting an "s" using the Storybook Cricut font at 1/2" and doing a little trimming)

Scalloped circle: Nestabilities (I took the scalloped circle and a smaller Nestabilities circle and made the frame I used on my daughter's picture on the right page)

I was so excited to find out a few months ago that the new "Bug Magazine" decided to publish one of my layouts.  And the magazine finally arrived on Friday.  How cool it is to open a magazine and see your work.  I am blessed.

Hangin' Out

I was thrilled to get to make a scrapbook page this weekend!  And I had these great pictures of our granddaughter playing in our tree.  Then on Black Friday, I picked up these wonderful BasicGrey papers for less than half price.  It matched the pictures perfectly!

The page is made with the current sketch over at Stuck On U Sketches.  You can find the sketch here.  I made it into a two page layout because of the number of pictures I had, and the fact that it would have been hard to cut the pictures down.  I don't print my own pictures.  I upload them and have them printed at a local drug store.  I was happy with the way it turned out!

Party Time!

What a fun scrapbooking weekend I have had.  My neighbor came over on Saturday afternoon, and we scrapbooked together for several hours.  And to top it all off, I did a two page layout of my granddaughter's birthday.  Woo hoo! 

As I think I've already said, I just love Allison Davis' sketches.  They are such great two page sketches.  I love how she can take one sketch and make it look so different!  So, I had fun with this layout.  I thought it was finished last night, but I knew it needed something else.  Then it hit me today, I could add a banner to the corner!  So, that's what I did, and now I feel like it is finished.

I'm a Sucker For You

I finally found time to create.  All week it seems that something has come up, and I couldn't get into the scrapbook room.  But I spent time in there last night and today and finished this layout.  Then I struggled to get a good picture of the layout.  I have not taken pictures of two pagers in so long, I've forgotten how to get the picture lined up.  After taking about 40 pictures, this is about the best I could do.

I'm sort of playing along with the current challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  I used their sketch, but I didn't use the Halloween colors.  I'm still very appreciative of their sketch and hope they won't kick me out of the challenge.

Forever In Our Hearts

You may recall that several weeks ago, I posted a sympathy card that I made for friends that go to our church because their daughter was tragically killed at the age of 17.  I told the Mom that I wanted to do something for her and suggested either making some thank you notes for her to send, or decorating a box in which she could store her sympathy cards.  She liked the idea of a storage box for her sympathy cards.  Then she told me that she had gotten 478 sympathy cards at that point.  Wow!  So, then I was on a mission to find something big enough to hold that many sympathy cards.  I ended up buying a wicker chest at Michael's with a hinged lid.  The first picture I am posting shows the chest, which measures about 20 inches tall and is about 18 inches x 18 inches wide.  I think it will hold her cards, plus maybe a few other mementos.  I decorated the inside of the lid so that she can put a picture of her daughter there.  I gave it to her today, and she seemed to really like it.  I am a little worried that the glue won't hold, since the lid will be down most of the time, but I used Fabri-Tac, which is about the strongest glue I have used, so keep your fingers crossed that it will hold.  I almost always add things with pop up dots because I love the dimension, but I decided not to use them on this layout because of being afraid they would come off.  Thus, everything is very flat.

I used My Mind's Eye papers.  I glued lace all around the outside edge.  The photo frame was cut using the A Child's Year Cricut cartridge.  The label background was cut using the Lacy Labels Cricut Lite cartridge.  Forever was cut using SCAL and using the Wrexham Script font.  "In our" was cut using the Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge.  "Hearts" is the Sizzlit Wingo Dingo font.  Of course the heart is a Nestabilities die.  The roses are made by Recollections, and the label with the Bible verse on it is a Spellbinders die.  I think the large white flower is a Heidi Swapp flower, and the black flower is Bazzill.  The blue border with the holes in it is a new EKSuccess border punch. 

I hope it gives her some kind of comfort, and I hope you like it.

The Bible verse says:  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”  John 11:25-26

Wrapped Around Your Finger

I've had these pictures of my granddaughter just waiting to be used on a layout for some time.  I had thought about doing something related to her curls.  I especially love the picture that shows that one big curl.  This was two years ago, and her hair has now lost much of its curl (boo hoo).  These pictures were taken early one morning while we were at the lake, and she hadn't even brushed her hair.  How cool is that!  (She had, however, been eating a red sucker -- hence the sucker mouth.)

The title for this layout came from the current challenge over at Frosted Designs.  You are to use lyrics from a song somewhere on a layout.  I decided on Tim McGraw's song, "My Little Girl."  The two lines of the song I thought of were these:  "I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.  You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born."  My husband and daughter danced to this song at her wedidng last year, so it has special meaning to me anyway.

I used Allison Davis' July sketch for this layout.  I love her two page sketches!  She has an awesome way of taking one sketch and making it into several different designs. 

Supplies:

"Wrapped" and "Finger" are the Marketing Script font cut using Sure Cuts A Lot.  (Sorry that you have a hard time seeing the title -- I loved the patterned paper I used, but it was hard to get words to show up, and I couldn't get a shadow to work in SCAL.)
"around" and "your" are the Olivia Cuttlebug font.
"You've Had Me" and "Since the Day You Were Born" are computer generated and then punched.
The large background circle, small circles and scalloped circles are either punches, or cut from the George Cricut cartridge.
Scalloped border is a Martha Stewart border punch.
Ladybugs are K & Co.

I'm sure you'll have to click on the picture if you want to get a better look.  I had a tough time getting a good picture of this.  It was either too bright, or too dark, and then I ended up with shadows on the photos.

Poppy Time

I have done two layouts in a little over a week.  That's great for me because of working full time, and because I usually have so many cards to make (which I love).  This layout was done with the new sketch over at sketchabilities.  I loved the sketch, so was happy to get to play with it.

These pictures were taken in July of 2008 on one of our annual trips to a local lake.  We usually take our camper and hang out at the lake one weekend per summer.  My husband and my granddaughter are almost inseparable when we go.  He is her buddy and does such a great job at it.  I loved the pictures of them on the dock -- so peaceful!

The sun was cut using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge.  The clouds were cut using the Zooballoo cartridge.  Poppy was cut using the Cuttin' Up cartridge, and "time" is the Cuttlebug typewriter font.  The scalloped circle was cut using Storybook and the fancy corner (which I love) is from the Sweethearts cartridge.  The white scalloped border strip is from Bazzill, to which I added a few skittles.  Flowers are K&Co. and the flourish is a Sizzlet die.  I journaled a little and put it on a pull out tag hidden behind the picture of my husband and my granddaughter.
