We Miss You

These cards were made to send to three ladies in my Circle at church.  (A Circle is a group of United Methodist Women who raise money and do different types of missions work.)  These ladies have missed several meetings lately, and we miss them!  The other gals in the Circle asked if I would make cards for them, and of course I said yes.

The first card was made using Sketch 99 over at Card Patterns.  I always love using sketches, and this one was a fun one!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

And in addition, these are the two other cards I made to send out.  They are very simple, but I liked them.

Thanks for looking!  If you have questions about the way I made them, let me know. (I was in a bit of a hurry when posting this.)

Senorita

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again.  I love sketches.  And Allison Davis' sketches over at Sketch Support are some of my favorite two page sketches.  I did this layout a week or so ago, but have had such a tough time getting pictures of it.  If anyone can help me figure out how to get the angle right on my layouts so that they really are a true square (for one pagers) or rectangle (for two pagers) when I get ready to crop them, I'd love you forever.  :o)

This layout is from my daughter's birthday in 2008.  Yikes!  I keep getting further and further behind in my scrapbooking.  But I love making cards, so I suppose it's all good.  Someday I'll actually start on an album for my grandson, who is already 17 months old!  This was my daughter's last birthday at home before she got married, and we celebrated at a local Mexican restaurant.  You know the drill -- sombrero on your head, singing away while they either beat you on the head or move your head back and forth.  So, I used a bit of Mexican flair for the title to my layout.  Thanks to a co-worker (thanks Harriet), I found the sombrero on one of my Cricut cartridges, and added it this weekend.  Here's how the layout was made:

Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned paper:  DCWV Cotton Blossom Stack (I love these papers.)
Fonts:  Happy Birthday - Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge (I put hearts over the little faces, since they didn't really cut well so small); Senorita - Wrexham Script (The accent mark -- I hope it's correct -- was cut by cutting an "s" using the Storybook Cricut font at 1/2" and doing a little trimming)
Sombrero:  Graphically Speaking
Scalloped circle: Nestabilities (I took the scalloped circle and a smaller Nestabilities circle and made the frame I used on my daughter's picture on the right page)
Doily punch:  Martha Stewart
Gems:  Unknown
Black and Orange strips:  Bazzill Just the Edge and Paper Frills

And here is my layout:

Sorry about the AWFUL glare from the flash.  I have taken 30 pictures of this layout.  This one with the flash might be the best for the colors, but the glare stinks!  I will try again when there is actually sunshine!

Thanks for looking, and for your sweet words that make my day!

Flowers Everywhere

Some of my visitors may remember my post last year about the young woman at our church who died in a tragic, senseless act.  You can read about it here.  I made a card then for the girl's parents.  I haven't seen her Mom at church in a while, and I have heard that she is really having a tough time, which of course is to be expected.  I am worried about her, so I decided to make a card to let her know she's been on my mind lately.  If you are a praying person, please say a  prayer for Lisa.

Also, I wanted to add that if any of you think your cards are not appreciated, they are -- well, usually.  I sent a card last week to a friend who was diagnosed with cancer before Christmas (see this post).  I had not seen her since September, and I got a call from her on Friday.  She said the card meant the world to her.  It made my day that I was able to make her day.  Keep on making those cards!

When I saw The Pink Elephant's pink, orange and aqua color challenge, I really wanted to try it.  I love these colors together!  You can find the challenge here.

I also am entering it into the flower challenge at the 2 Sisters Challenge blog.  You can find the challenge here.  I love flowers!

Here is how the card was made:

Size:  A2
Cardstock:  Recollections; DCWV
Patterned Papers:  Possibly My Mind's Eye?  (They were in my scraps.)
Embossing:  Cuttlebug
Flowers:  McGill, Paper Shapers and EK Success Punches
Scalloped circle:  Nestabilities (I offset this and cut the edge off)
Circle:  George Cricut cartridge cut at 3 1/4"  (I think)
Sentiment:  Computer generated and punched
Stickles used on the flowers and around the sentiment
Gems:  Dress It Up glitter dots
Ribbon:  Satin (manufacturer unknown)

Thanks for looking, and for your comments.

You Are In My Prayers

Several months ago I made a retirement card (see it here) for a sweet lady.  I found out just before Christmas that she had been diagnosed with cancer.  So, I made this card for her and sent it out this week, hoping to encourage her a little, and let her know that I'm thinking about her and praying for her.

Here are the details on the card:

Size:  A2
Patterned Papers:  DCWV
Cardstock:  Recollection and DCWV
Scalloped Circle and Scalloped Square:  Nestabilities
Embossing:  Cuttlebug
Bird:  Three Birds on Parade Cricut Cartridge
Border Punch:  EKSuccess

Hope you like it, and thanks for your comments.

Another Sympathy Card

This is a sympathy card I've been needing to make for weeks for a friend in our Sunday School class whose father passed away a month or so ago.

The size of the card is 3 7/8" x 8 1/2".  I bought some #10 envelopes a few weeks ago and have been wanting to make a card this size.  I decided to try the Tuesday Trigger winter white challenge that you can find here at Moxie Fab World.

Here is how I made the card:

Embossing:  Cuttlebug (I put one end of my paper into the folder and embossed it, and then turned it around and embossed the other end.  The seam is covered by the cross, sentiment and ribbon.)
Ribbon:  Unknown
Cross:  Paper Studio punch - added a Dress It Up glitter dot in the center
Oval and label behind cross:  Punches
Sentiment:  Computer generated and then used a McGill punch set to punch it out.
Border punch:  EKSuccess

Thanks for looking!

Here was my inspiration:

And here is my card, which doesn't look much like winter white in this photo:

Published!

I was so excited to find out a few months ago that the new "Bug Magazine" decided to publish one of my layouts.  And the magazine finally arrived on Friday.  How cool it is to open a magazine and see your work.  I am blessed.

Here is a picture of the layout entitled "Marry Me."  The pictures were taken two years ago when our youngest daughter got engaged.

Supplies used: Bazzill Bling cardstock, Making Memories patterned paper, American Crafts cardstock, Wausau Papers cardstock, Prima flowers, Bazzill flowers, Imaginesce flowers, Recollection mini roses, Nestabilities (inverted scalloped circle for photo of ring), Martha Stewart border punch; pearls - unknown

Cricut Cartridges used: Sweethearts (Marry Me, proposal couple); Mini Monograms (scalloped circle behind picture of ring), Paisley (handmade blue/white paper flower); Cindy Loo (flourish, scalloped square background); Sesame Street font (silhouette background circle); Accent Essentials (Scalloped circle border (below flowers)

Here is a picture of the magazine page:
