You're 55

Welcome to Friday folks!  Woo hoo!  Friday is one of my favorite days of the week.  Of course Saturday and Sunday are even better, but I do love Fridays.  And Fridays also mean a new reveal over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Today's die cut challenge is entitled "Hot August Nights" and is all about vehicles of any kind.  So come on, let's see your creativity!  Come join us!

Here is my card for the challenge, which happened to be my hubby's birthday card.  He's a car nut!  And he had a Mustang when we started dating many ages ago.  So, it was only right to add this little car to his birthday card.  When our kids saw the card, they thought it was a little risque, but it wasn't mean to be.  I promise!

Here are the details:

Size:  4 3/4" x 6 3/4"
Route Sign:  Going Places Cricut Cartridge cut at 4"
55:  Martha Stewart Birthday Cake Art Cricut Cartridge cut at 1 3/4"
Stars:  Punches
Mustang:  Wrap It Up Cricut Cartridge cut at 2 1/2".  I cut the cans off the back of the car, since it was meant to be used for a wedding card or page.  Notice the little tag I added that says, "Tricky Ricky."  That is a joke because my husband's name is Rick, and some family members used to refer to him that way.  I thought it was a cute personalization for his card.

You're Going to Soar in 2nd Grade

It seems impossible that students are returning to school around our country.  But, it's that time of year!  My granddaughter will be starting 2nd grade next week.  It's so hard for me to believe she is growing up so fast!  To encourage her on her first day of school, I made a goodie bag for her.  And it goes along with the latest die cut challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  The theme this week is "School Is Cool!"  I hope you'll check it out and join in with us!

I took a polka dot gift bag and embellished it as follows:

Scalloped circle:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 6"; I also added a shadow to the cut.
"You're Going To," "In," and "Grade" were all computer generated and punched.
SOAR:  Straight from the Nest Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/2"
2ND:  Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Cricut cartridge cut at 2" (the "2"), and 1 1/4" ("ND")
Apple:  Wrap It Up Cricut cartridge cut at 3"
For the toppers to the treat bags, I merely printed them from my computer and added a few stickers I had stashed in a drawer.

And a close-up of the individual goodie bags:

I hope you are inspired.  I appreciate any comments you take the time to leave.  Have a blessed, crafty day!

Sending Birthday Wishes

Happy Tuesday bloggers!  Today I am sharing with you a birthday card I recently made for a former co-worker.  This friend is battling cancer, and the doctors have actually told her that she only has a couple of months to live.  If you are a praying person, I ask that you pray for her.  Her name is Tori.

I made the card to be sent from a bunch of people.  I cut an extra layer and glued it on the inside left of the card with a place to lift it up to allow more signatures.  We placed it in a central location in the office and had lots of people sign it.  I thought it would brighten her day to know that we were all thinking of her and care for her.  Here are the details of the card:

Size:  A2 (approx.)
Card stock:  Bazzill
Patterned papers:  My Mind's Eye
Card shape:  Wrap It Up cartridge cut using the card feature and cut at 5 1/4" (I think -- I made it two weeks ago.)  I was very happy to find that the layers from the main image on that page (page  31 of the handbook) fit onto the card feature.  So, I was able to cut layers in different papers.
Pearls:  Strand pearls that I purchased in the ribbon section at Hobby Lobby, and the individual pearls are Recollections.
Rose:  Recollections
Flourish:  Jolee's
Sentiment:  Computer generated
I added a little Stickles to the flames for a touch of bling, and it was done!

Thanks for looking, and be inspired!

Birthday Wishes for my Sister-in-Law

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday.  After seeing a similar card somewhere out in blog world (I cannot remember whose blog it was on), I decided to do a really tall card that opens at the bottom.
Here are the details:

Cardstock:  American Crafts; Bazzill
Patterned Papers:  K and Co.
Size:  4" x 8".  Since my paper was 12" and thus folded would only be 6", I added a 2 1/2" section at the bottom of both the front and back of the card and covered it with the pink strip of paper. 1/2" is glued to the other part of the card, which mades the length 8".  I covered the inside with one piece of paper 8" long to hide any seams on the inside.
Cake:  Wrap It Up Cricut cartridge at 2 1/2"  Since this cartridge does not have a shadow, I cut the cake 1/4" larger in yellow.  The candles did not line up, but the cake did, so I cut the candles off.  I added Stickles for the flames and added a string of pearls on the layers of the cake.
Label:  Nestabilities -- embossed with the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder.  I added pearls in the corners from my stash.
Flowers:  Recollections
Branches:  Spellbinders
Pearls Strands:  On a roll purchased in the ribbon section at Hancock Fabrics (I think)
I also used the Swirl Cuttlebug folder on the bottom for texture.
Scalloped bottom:  EKSuccess border punch
