No More Books!
This is the layout I did for my daughter's boyfriend's graduation from college in May. I just got the My Community Cricut cartridge, and I loved it on this one. I used the book and the teacher. I used the clipboard from Fabulous Finds for my journaling, and the diploma is the newspaper from the Mickey & Friends cartridge (without the writing). You can click on the picture to see it better.
Hope you like it!

When the Chips are Down. . .
I recently learned that one of my daughter's friends from high school failed her nursing examination. This girl used to practically live at our house, and I've always thought so much of her. According to her Mom, she is just devastated, so I wanted to send her a card to hopefully lift her spirits. So, I came up with this card. The outside says, "When the Chips are down . . . " and on the inside, it says, "Don't give up on your dreams -- reach for the stars!" I put some chipboard stars on the inside. And I also found this quote that I thought was good, "The second star to the right shines in the night for you to tell you that the dreams you have really can come true." Peter Pan
I hope it helps her to know that others care, that I will be praying for her, and things will work out!

Look What the Easter Bunny Brought
I worked on this layout for at least 4 hours today. I really don't know why it took so long! Maybe it's because I cut those eggs out in so many different colors and at so many different sizes! I'm glad I added the little crosses (the bunny is holding one, and I put two on the journaling). The layout is about the Easter Bunny, but I didn't want anyone to think that I didn't remember the real reason for Easter! You can see the pictures a little better if you double click on them.
UPDATE: I've changed the layout a little. The one with the purple strip at the bottom is the latest version, and I do like it better!

You're a Classic Daddy
My Daddy will be 71 years old next week. He is and always has been my hero. My Daddy was a coal miner, who came home with a black face every day. I remember seeing those white eyes shining through, and that was all. My Daddy is a saint in my eyes. He is a Godly man, who loves his wife and treats her like a queen, and who worked very hard for us. He is so sentimental. He doesn't cry much, but if anything can make him cry, it's his family. I can remember getting hugs from him growing up, something I really don't remember getting from my Mom. She took care of our physical needs, although Daddy helped with those as well. She went to school at night for probably 4-5 years to get her college degree, and Daddy helped take care of us. I have a sister who is 2 years older than me, and I can remember him washing our hair and wringing it out like a mop. When I turned 16, he taught me to drive a manual transmission. He wrote a check for a new car for me when it came to the point that I had a part-time job in high school and needed a way to get there. It wasn't a fancy car at all, no air conditioning, no electric windows or anything like that, but it was a brand new car. I told him I'd make payments on it, and he let me write him a check for $100 every month. I kept reminding him to cash the checks, and he said he would. After a year of this, he finally told me that he wasn't going to cash the checks. He was just helping me to learn the responsibility of making payments. Now, who could ask for more? I can remember when times were hard after I got married. My husband worked for him, and his business wasn't doing well. We had just bought a new home, and I was concerned. He told me that he would not let me lose my home. What comfort that was. I never had to ask him for a dime, but I knew he'd take care of me. When my husband and I decided to pick up and move to another state because of the job situation at home, my Mom told me I was making the biggest mistake of my life. My Daddy told me that he didn't want to see me go, but if he was my age, he'd probably do the same thing. That's my Daddy for you! Anyway, I really wanted to make a special card for him. I had been thinking about this car from the Mickey & Friends Cricut cartridge ever since I saw it. It's perfect for him because he loves old cars. I sure hope he likes it. I've told him lots of times that he is my hero. He'll never now how much I love him!

Happy Birthday Spud
When my nephew was born, I went to the hospital and stayed with my sister. When they brought him in, I called him Spud for some reason, and I still tell him about it all of the time. He will be 14 next week, so I made this card for him. I hope he gets a kick out of me putting Spud on his card. I've decided that cards for men are difficult to do -- no flowers, no ribbon -- I mean, it sure limits your choices and designs! I guess you could put a little ribbon on, but I didn't think a 14 year old would like it.

My New Header!
My son-in-law is the bomb!!! He does computer graphics at work, and I knew he could make me an awesome header for my blog, and he did! He was at my house, and I asked him if he could make something for me -- that it didn't have to be really fancy -- and he sat down and made my new header in very little time. I just love that picture of my granddaughter, and now I can see that cheesy smile every time I look at my blog! Thanks Joey -- you're the best!!

Even Though You're Not MY Dad . . .
I made this card to give to my husband on Father's Day. He always tells me on Mother's Day that I'm not his mother. Okay, I'm over it now after almost 29 years. LOL. But, I hated to make Father's Day cards for everyone else and not him. So, I decided to make this one. I thought Mickey and Minnie hugging would be good for this card. The stitching is done with a pen, and everything is on pop-up dots. The inside says, "You're a Wonderful Dad." I hope he gets a kick out of it!
A Wedding Card
I made this wedding card for my husband's co-worker, who is getting married on Saturday. I just love the Cuttlebug little embossing folders. I had never seen the wedding one in a store, so I broke down and ordered it online. I love it! I'm not sure about the 2 to 1 on this card. I cut it from the Olivia Cuttlebug font in chipboard, but it just kind of looks out of place I think. Oh well, it's done, and the card is out the door!

Father's Day Cards and a Birthday Card
I've been on a mission tonight to get several cards done. I did three tonight, and I have three more to go this week. I'm happy with the fact that I finished three of them. The first, a shirt card, was made for a sweetheart of a guy at my church. He recently had a heart catherization, and I failed to call him, so I decided to make him this Father's Day card to make up for not checking on him during his heart procedure. I have always told him that he is my Dad here, since my Daddy lives 3 1/2 hours away. He hugs me every single Sunday, and he is always showing me new ties that people have given him, so I decided a shirt card with a tie was perfect for him.
The fishing card is for my Dad for Father's Day. He loves to fish, so the fisherman from the Going Places Cricut cartridge was perfect for him. I love my Daddy very much, and I hope he can feel the love behind this card.
The birthday card is for my brother-in-law's girlfriend, whose birthday is Friday. I wish he'd pop the question and make her my sister-in-law (well, I guess she'd be my husband's sister-in-law). I just received the hearts embossing folder this afternoon in the mail, so I was anxious to use it. I really like it!
Hope you like them!

Quarter of a Century + 1
I did this layout to commemorate my oldest daughter's 26th birthday. I really didn't have very many good pictures. We took her to dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse, and for some reason I didn't take pictures of her opening her gifts. We celebrated again at my house the next day with cake, and I didn't take any pictures then either. Bad mother and scrapbooker!! I printed about 6 photos for this, but ended up only using these three, which is very unusual for me. This entire layout is pretty unusual for me. But I'm pleased with it. The journaling on the frame around her photo says, "Wonderful daughter, mother, sister, wife, friend, neighbor, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, camp counselor . . . CHILD OF GOD." I thought that was a pretty good way to describe her. I am blessed with two beautiful, wonderfully sweet daughters. In fact, I sat and cried as I looked at these photos of my oldest. I just love my girls so much. The little journaling square on the right page is actually a fake newspaper clipping. Thanks to Sandi (CelticWoman) from the Cricut MB for telling me about this website!

Babies Are The Best Gift of All!
This could be my favorite card ever. I don't know if I love the design, the paper, the pop-up dots or what. If I had it to do over, I would have put the baby and gift on a square, oval, or circle though. Too late -- pop-up dots! But I do still love this little card. I can't remember where I came up with this idea, but I've had it in my sketch pad for months, just waiting for a baby to be born. One of my daughter's best friends had a little girl this week, so it was the perfect occasion for it! I hope they like it, and I'll be making more of these I'm sure!

Mornings at Mimi's
This is one of those layouts that the photos laid on the table for 2 days, and there were several different patterned papers laying under them before I made the decision to go with these. These photos are from when my granddaughter spent the night with us a few months ago. She's such a sweetie when she wakes up -- well, all the time -- but this layout just tells a little of the story of the time we spent with her. Ignore the fact that my hair hasn't been brushed, and I have no makeup on in these pictures. Yep, there ya go, looking even closer to see those pictures of me! LOL. I used my Doodlebug Designs Paper Frills on this LO -- that's the blue strip under the photos at the top and the little yellow strips between the photos at the top on the left page. I used a punch on one of my granddaughter's pictures and then cut an oval from my Cricut to put behind it in the title. That picture of her asleep was great, but she was covered with a dark red and blue checked quilt, and it would have clashed with the other photos and papers, so I used it this way. The arrows and designs next to my journaling are cut from chipboard in my Cuttlebug. The sun is from the Mickey & Friends Cricut cartridge. The flowers are a punch. As always, thanks for looking!

Colby's Graduation Card
My nephew is graduating from high school this week, and I made this card to send to him, since I can't be there for his graduation. They are having graduation on a Wednesday, which makes it difficult for out of town folks. His school colors are blue and gold -- thus the colors of the card. I'm so proud of him. He is 9th in his class -- woo hoo! He must take his intelligence after his aunt! Ha! Ha!

Sympathy Cross Card
I've been working on this card for a few days for a friend whose sister passed away this week -- never really being completely satisfied -- mainly because I didn't put a sentiment on the front. I just couldn't figure out how I wanted to do it and if I had enough room. Therefore, the sentiment of "In Sympathy" or "Praying for you" will go on the inside. Love the embossing folder used on this one!
Makeup Artist
I just finished this layout of Ashlyn playing in Whitney's makeup. This one was fun to do. I am in love with the new Disney Cricut cartridges -- both the font and the character cartridge. This is my first attempt at cutting a character -- it sure is tricky, but the end result is worth the effort. I'm sure it will get easier. I just bought these Sizzix flourishes, which are actually considered vines, and I love them cut in chipboard. I used the DCWV chipboard that my friend Jane told me about. I'm grateful that she inspires me and enables me! LOL. Pretty much everything on this LO is on pop-up dots, which I can't get enough of. Thanks for looking.

I Forgot my Grandma's Birthday!!
At 4:30 a.m., I was awake, and it hit me like a rock -- my grandma's 91st birthday was on Monday. How could I forget that??? She is my last living grandparent. I feel so bad. So, out of guilt, I got up at 6:30 and made her this card. I will try to call her over the weekend. I cut the flower out from the George cartridge and the flower pot from the Walk in my Garden cartridge. What would I do without my Cricut??? I purchased ink for my printer from Office Depot, instead of Dell, because it was cheaper. I don't think I'm pleased. My sentiment has lines running through it. Live and learn!
