I Still Love You Card

I am sharing with you today my husband's anniversary card from a few weeks ago.  It has been 33 years.  Believe it or not,  I still love him!  We spent our anniversary this year in the hospital.  If you've read my blog, you know that he had surgery on his foot to put in a stainless steel plate and 12-14 screws in his heel.  Ouch!  The morning of our anniversary (12:30 a.m. to be exact), a nurse came into the room to check on him.  I went over to his bed, gave him a kiss, and wished him a happy anniversary, and that's about all of the celebrating we did.  He was in a lot of pain that day.  It makes you appreciative of the anniversaries when you can go out to dinner and celebrate!  LOL.  I am entering this card into the Crazy 4 Challenges c4c102 "guy" challenge.  Check it out here.

Granddaughter's Birthday

TGIF!!!  I am so happy to share with you today the birthday card I made for our wonderfully sweet granddaughter.  I really had fun with this card.  It was my creation for today's die cut challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  We were to use the theme "sky" as our inspiration.  I used a cloud and a balloon.  Check out what the wonderful designers did here.

Here are the details of the card:

I started out with an A2 size card that opens at the bottom.  I cut it down to 4" wide instead of 4 1/4".  I then took a piece of matching 12" card stock and scored it at 4" and 8".  I cut the wavy lines using my Creative Memories wavy cutter.  Then I glued the middle section to the back of my card.  That's the base of the card.
Card Stock:  Bazzill
Patterned Papers:  K and Company
Grass:  Fiskars grass border punch.  I cut small pieces and glued them to the wavy lines to give the appearance of little mounds of grass.
Bear:  Create A Critter Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/2"
Balloon:  Create A Critter Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/4"  (I embossed the balloon with a Cuttlebug hearts folder.)
Cloud:  Create A Critter Cricut cartridge cut at 1 1/4"
Flowers:  Small flower punch (Paper Shapers) and a Martha Stewart Leaf punch.  I used pearls for the flower centers.
Sentiment on the outside:  Computer generated and layered with a circle punch and a scalloped circle punch
Sentiment on the inside fold:  Computer generated and punched with an EK Success punch
Inside sentiment:  Just a happy birthday song that I printed on my computer, along with telling her how much we love her.

Well, Owl'll Be Darned!

This was such a fun card to make for my great neighbor's birthday.  Believe me, he and his wife have been a huge blessing to us in the past month since my husband broke his heel bone and had to have surgery.  He has mowed our lawn several times, and I looked out the window one time to see her with the leaf blower blowing all of the grass off our driveway.  I pray God will bless them in return!

Anyway, here are the details of his birthday card:

Size:  Approx. 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" -- I cut the shape using the sign feature on the Campin' Critter Cricut cartridge.  I think I cut it at 5 1/4", but to be honest, I just don't remember.  It could be that I cut it at 4 1/4". This feature is really cool.  There are some fun shapes on the sign feature on this cartridge that can be made into cards.
Card Stock:  Recollections and Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  DCWV
Sentiment:  Computer generated and punched with a Stampin' Up Paper Shapers Punch.  I borrowed the sentiment from Jessie Adams on the Cricut messageboard -- thank you!!
Owl:  Campin' Critters Cricut Cartridge cut at 2 3/4"
Branch:  Straight from the Nest Cricut Cartridge
Label behind Owl:  Nestabilities
Sun:  1" circle punch
Green scallop behind label:  I used a scalloped oval punch, and cut the punch out in half and tucked it behind the label, just to add a little something.

One Year Older

I am sharing with you today my brother-in-law's birthday card.  Guy cards are so hard for me.  I want to put flowers and flourishes on them.  So, I usually reach for stars instead as my go-to embellishment for cards for guys.  I am entering this card into sketch challenge no. 129 over at Card Patterns.  It was a really cool sketch.

So excited!

I was so excited when I popped onto the Birthday Sundaes blog today and saw that my card was one of the cards featured in their challenge no. 21.  You can click here to see the post.  If you have a blog, you know how much work it is to take the perfect picture of your creation, get it from the camera to your computer, edit it, upload it and create a post on your blog.  So, to have your work recognized, or to get comments, just makes your day!  I'm happy!

Make A Wish Birthday Card

I am sharing with you today a card made for my aunt's birthday.  I used sketch no. 203 over at Mojo Monday.  You can find the sketch here.  Here are the details:

Patterned Papers:  Recollections
Black Flower:  Handmade using two sizes of Paper Shapers retro flower punch.  I punched 5 big flowers and 2 small flowers.  Then I misted them with water and scrunched them.  I then flattened them and shaped them by pressing an an embossing tool in the middle on a foam pad.  Then I glued the layers together and added a button in the middle.
Roses:  I am Roses
Flourish:  Sizzlit die
Lace:  Unknown
Scalloped Border:  EK Success border punch and then embossed with my Cuttlebug
Sentiment:  Computer generated using Word Art and then punched with a 1 inch circle punch.  I then layered that on a 1 1/4" scalloped circle punch

You're Such A Big Boy

I am excited to be sharing with you today my very first project as part of the design team for the new die cut challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches.  Our theme for this challenge was the word "play."  So, stop by and "play" along with us and have some fun!  Here is a link to the challenge.

The card I made is for my grandson's 2nd birthday, which is actually this weekend.  I can't believe he is two already.  He's such a sweetheart.  I did not have a son, only girls, so I am enjoying this new adventure into boys.

Here are the details of my card:

Card Stock:  DCWV and Bazzill Bling
Star Background:  This is an embossing folder I found at Hobby Lobby made by The Paper Studio -- great for guy cards!
Patterned Paper:  DCWV Dots Stripes and Plaids stack
Tricycle:  Boys Will Be Boys Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/2".  I cut two layers of the tricycle and separated them with pop up dots and also cut a shadow layer.
"You're Such A":  Computer generated using Tabitha font.  I cut my strip of paper to size and then took a 1 inch square punch, turned it over and lined it up and punched.
"BIG":  Boys Will Be Boys Cricut cartridge cut at 1 3/4".  Again, I cut two layers of the cut and separated them by pop up dots.  I then layered it on a circle punch and a Nestabilities scalloped octagon shape
"BOY":  Cuttlebug Baby Face font set
Scalloped circle border:  EK Success border punch

Happy Birthday for a Long Distance Friend

Good Wednesday morning.  I am actually sitting in the hospital waiting room right now while my husband is having surgery on his ankle to repair the broken bone.  We arrived at 6, and when I saw him at 7:30, he had a gorgeous surgery cap on his head and a sock on his other foot with a smiley face on the bottom.  Too funny!  Hopefully, he will be out soon and on the road to recovery.  I am praying he will be just fine.

I am sharing with you today a card I made for a cyber friend that lives on the other end of the country. We have been emailing each other for at least 3 years, maybe 4.  We met on the Cricut messageboard.  I hope that we can meet someday in person.  Here are the details of the card.

Old Age Birthday Card

I have two very dear friends who have been with me through thick and thin, good and bad, for 23 years.  When I was younger, I never thought I'd have "true" friends, but I can say that when we arrived in North Carolina, I found true friends.  They are like sisters to me, and I adore them.  One of them turned 50 last week, and this is the card I made for her.  She loves brown, and although it is not the first color I would choose for a card, I really like this card.  I have entered this card into the current challenge over at Birthday Sundaes.  Check it out!

Another Pet Sympathy Card

If you said a prayer for my husband, thank you!  We are still in limbo, waiting for an MRI to be scheduled.  Tomorrow will make a week since his accident, so I am really anxious to find out exactly what is going on.  So your prayers are still needed!  And thank you!

Today I am sharing with you a pet sympathy card made for my aunt who had to have her Boston terrier put down last week.  She had two of these dogs, named Frank and Jesse, and Jesse passed away last year.  Frank had an enlarged heart, and she knew it was only a matter of time, but it is still hard to let them go.  Here are the details of the card:

Size:  A2
Card stock:  Recollections (embossed with my Cuttlebug)
Patterned Papers:  DCWV
Top border punch:  Fiskars
Bone:  Paper Pups Cricut cartridge cut at 1" then embossed
Frame:  Elegant Edges (what else) Cricut cartridge cut at 3 1/2" and then embossed. I started off by cutting a 3" or 3 1/4" circle in my paper (with a Nestabilities circle die) and then making the card into an A2 size from that point and added the frame to show the inside sentiment.
I added a bow and a small rose, a couple of pearls (made by Queen & Co.), and it was done!

Can you believe it? Another sympathy card!

First of all, I ask for your prayers for my husband.  He fell on Tuesday off a 6 ft. stack of tires and landed on his feet.  He went to an immediate care type facility, and the x-rays showed that it was not broken, but badly sprained.  He is on crutches of course and can't do his real job (changing huge tires).  They have had him sitting in the office this week doing paper work, which is okay for him because he would rather do that than stay home.  (I have been married to him for almost 33 years, and he's never missed a day of work for being sick.)  He went back to the doctor yesterday, and the doctor is concerned that he cannot move his foot from side to side.  So, they are scheduling an MRI.  I will keep you posted.

And now onto my post.  Yes, I have another sympathy card to share today.  This one was made for a dear friend who lost her father last week.  The entire family was on vacation together in Florida.  Her Dad received dialysis 3 times a week.  He got up early to go take dialysis and had a heart attack on his way, striking a utility pole with his car, and he passed away.  She has such wonderful stories though about the blessings they received through the whole ordeal.  They were able to spend 3 wonderful days with him.  She was able to drink coffee on the balcony with him the morning before he passed away and spend quality time with him, just the two of them, and her children's last memory of him was of him laughing and clapping to a song at dinner the night before he passed away.  Wow!  And now he is at home in heaven!

Forever In Your Hearts Pet Sympathy

TGIF!!!  I am sharing with you today a card I made for a co-worker who lost her beloved Cairn Terrier a few weeks ago.  The little pooch on this card probably isn't a Cairn Terrier, but rather a Scottish Terrier, but close enough.  Here are the details:

Size:  A2
Card Stock and Glitter Paper:  Bazzill, Core'dinations and DCWV
Patterned Papers:  DCWV
Background border:  Martha Stewart Double Edge Punch
Dog:  Just Because Cricut cartridge (I think I cut this at 6 1/2", since everything on this cartridge coordinates with the size of the card, not the image you are cutting.)  I then embossed it with my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder.  I added a little pearl for his eye.
Label behind Dog:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge (my all time favorite cartridge for cards) cut at 4 1/2".

Grass:  Fiskars border punch (I recently picked this up when it was 40% off, and I love it!)
