A True Friend . . .

A sweet friend of mine had a birthday last week, and I made this card for her.  She is a scrapbooker/cardmarker as well, so I love making cards for her.  She truly appreciates them.  And she loves the color pink, so this was especially fun for me, since I love pink as well.  And I love pink and black together.  Since I've made several cards for her, I wanted something unique.  I have done easel cards, which I love, but this time I did a shaped easel card.  I found the tutorial on Beate's blog -- you can find it here.

Here are the details:

Size 5" (approx.) -- I used a Grand Nestabilities die for the scalloped circle
Circles:  I cut a 4 1/4" circle for the outside using the George Cricut cartridge and then shadowed it in pink. The inside circle was cut at 4 1/2".
Card stock:  Bazzill and American Crafts
Patterned papers:  Recollections
Roses:  Recollections
Gems:  I purchased these at Wal-Mart several months ago, but I do not remember the manufacturer.
Pearls on a strand:  Hancock Fabrics
Sentiment:  Computer generated and punched (both on the front of the card and the inside) with EK Success punches  -- The inside sentiment reads, "Remembers your birthday but not your age.  Happy Birthday."
Gems:  Queen and Co.
Pearls:  Katy Cards

Hope you like it!  Please let me know if you have questions.  Also, I appreciate your comments!

Have a Dog-Gone Good Birthday

This is a cheesy, fun card I made for my nephew for his birthday.  I could not think of anything to do for his card.  Everything that came to my mind was cheesy!  So, cheesy it is.  LOL.  I even put on the inside, "I know, it's cheesy! But we still hope you have a great birthday."

Details:

Size:  A2
Card stock:  DCWV, American Crafts
Patterned Papers: DCWV
Dog:  Boys Will Be Boys Cricut cartridge cut at 3" (I was surprised it cut so large).  I ran the dog through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder, and I ran the background circle through the Cuttlebug using the Happy Birthday folder.
Stars:  George Cricut cartridge at 1 1/2" and 1 1/4"
I added baker's twine and then used a Fiskars border punch along the bottom.
The gems are Beads in a Bottle.

Hope you like this simple card!

Birthday Wishes for my Sister-in-Law

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday.  After seeing a similar card somewhere out in blog world (I cannot remember whose blog it was on), I decided to do a really tall card that opens at the bottom.
Here are the details:

Cardstock:  American Crafts; Bazzill
Patterned Papers:  K and Co.
Size:  4" x 8".  Since my paper was 12" and thus folded would only be 6", I added a 2 1/2" section at the bottom of both the front and back of the card and covered it with the pink strip of paper. 1/2" is glued to the other part of the card, which mades the length 8".  I covered the inside with one piece of paper 8" long to hide any seams on the inside.
Cake:  Wrap It Up Cricut cartridge at 2 1/2"  Since this cartridge does not have a shadow, I cut the cake 1/4" larger in yellow.  The candles did not line up, but the cake did, so I cut the candles off.  I added Stickles for the flames and added a string of pearls on the layers of the cake.
Label:  Nestabilities -- embossed with the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder.  I added pearls in the corners from my stash.
Flowers:  Recollections
Branches:  Spellbinders
Pearls Strands:  On a roll purchased in the ribbon section at Hancock Fabrics (I think)
I also used the Swirl Cuttlebug folder on the bottom for texture.
Scalloped bottom:  EKSuccess border punch

Thanks for your comments.

Happy Birthday for Co-Worker

This card was made for a co-worker -- one I've worked with for almost 23 years.  She is a cardmaker as well, so I know she will appreciate the time and effort put into it.

Here are the details:

Size:  5 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned papers:  Recollections (I got these papers in a package at Michael's and just love them.  They have a great vintage feel to them.)
Flower and vase:  Cuttlebug dies (part of the "Olivia" alphabet)
Sentiment:  Computer generated and printed on a Nestabilities label die.  I then cut another label one size larger to use as sort of a shadow.
Fancy border:  Martha Stewart deep edge border punch
Wavy line border:  EKSuccess border punch
Gems:  The white pearl is Queen & Co.; the black pearls are Beads in a Bottle by Tulip

I really like the touch of color in this card.  I hope you do as well.

Thank you for your comments.

Another Welcome Baby Card

I made this card for a dear friend's son and his wife who recently welcomed a new baby girl.

I made this card for the TPE99 sketch challenge over at The Pink Elephant.  Isn't it a sweet sketch?

Here are the details:

Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Papers:  My Mind's Eye
White daisy button:  Unknown
Ribbon:  Another unknown
Pearls:  Katy Cards (this is a company in England that I've purchased from several times.  She has great prices on pearls.  It takes a while to get them here in the U.S. (Usually 3 weeks or so), but worth the wait!  Here is a link to her site.)
Pink border behind card:  Martha Stewart deep edger border punch
Baby:  Baby Steps Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/2".  I added Liquid Applique to the cloud.
Scalloped Rectangle:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 3 1/2"  (I think.)
Welcome Baby:  Cuttlebug die

Here is my card:

You comments make my day.  Thank you!

A Mom Like You

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  Today's post is the card I made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.  If you've been following my blog for long, you've seen this color combo before.  She loves red, black and white. I usually throw a little blue or something in with it.

I used last week's sketch over at Mojo Monday (sketch no. 186).  I didn't get the card finished in time to add it to the challenge, but it was still fun.

Here is the sketch.  Of course I chose the square card.

Here are the details:

Size:  5 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned paper:  K and Co. and unknown
Daisy border:  Martha Stewart border punch
White ribbon bow with heart:  I bought these in a little package at AC Moore.  I do not remember the manufacturer, but they were in the ribbon section.  I wrapped white satin ribbon around the black strip on the card and then added this little ribbon bow on top.
Pearls:  Queen & Co.
Embossing on black strip: Cuttlebug folder
Blue label and black scalloped circle:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge
Circle with sentiment:  Nestabilities circle die
Sentiment and flower:  Clipart found on the internet, copied into Word and then I added the words (I added a touch of yellow Stickles to the center of the flower)
Blue flower:  Retro Flower Paper Shapers punch
Inside sentiment:  "Is a gift from above.  Happy Mother's Day.  We love you."

Happy Mother's Day

This is a Mother's Day card that I made for my mother.  I really wanted to make something "different" this year, since I have made so many cards for her.  I didn't want to do a typical A2 or square card.  So, I decided on a card that would fit into a no. 10 envelope.  It was not my original intention to put the flowers on it, but after cutting the sentiment, it needed something and evolved from there. I tried cutting several words for the front with my Cricut, but everything kept tearing.  But this finally worked!

Here are the details:

Size:  4 x 8 1/2"
Cardstock:  Recollections, American Crafts, DCWV (glitter) and Bazzill
Patterned Papers:  My Mind's Eye and unknown
Border punch along bottom with threaded lace:  EK Success
Border punch at bottom of flowers:  EK Success
Flowers:  Paper Shapers Retro flower punch, along with a smaller Paper Shapers flower punch (can't remember the name of it) and a glitter gem.  The leaves are punched with a Martha Stewart rose leaf punch.
Happy Mother's Day:  Martha Stewart Cake Seasonal Cricut cartridge cut at 1 1/4"

Thanks for looking, and for your comments.

A Sand-Tastic Day

I found time this weekend to scrapbook, so I made a two pager!  I used to always do two page layouts.  Lately I've done more one page layouts, but sometimes there are just too many photos for one page. These photos were taken at Myrtle Beach, SC in 2008.

Here are the details of the layout:

Cardstock:  Bazzill and The Paper Company
Patterned Papers:  "Home" stack -- My Mind's Eye
Scalloped Square background:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 11".
Flower border punch:  Martha Stewart.  If you look closely, you will see pearls in the centers of the flowers.  I used the Tulip Beads in a Bottle.  I really, really like this.  And to think I just ordered pearls before I found this.  I may never use them!
Umbrella and child playing:  A Child's Year Cricut cartridge, cut at 3 1/4"
Circle and scalloped circle:  Nestabilities dies
Yellow flower with the "A" on it for part of the title:  McGill punch
Sand-Tastic:  Hippie Chick Cuttlebug font
Day:  You're Not the Boss of Me Cuttlebug font  (I still love my Cuttlebug fonts and am sad that they no longer make them.)

If you have questions that I haven't answered, let me know.

Thank you so much to each and every one of you that takes the times to let me know you like my creations.  That has meant the world to me.

Best Wishes

Today I am sharing the card I made for my boss for his birthday this week.  It is nothing really fancy, but I like the bright colors.  I always struggle to make guy cards -- no flowers!  LOL.  The inside of the card said, "for a happy and blessed birthday."

Here's how it was made:

Size:  A2
Cardstock:  DCWV, Bazzill and Core'dinations
Patterned Papers:  DCWV Dots, Stripes and Plaids mat stack
Best Wishes:  3 Birds on Parade Cricut cartridge cut at 2"
White and black labels behind sentiment:  Nestabilities dies
Banner:  Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cricut cartridge, along with white circles at the top of the swags.  (Has anyone else noticed that when you cut the circles, the book shows they have stars cut out of the centers, but the stars do not cut?)  The stars that are on my card are a punch (with Stickles added).
Yellow scalloped border:  EKSuccess border punch
Green glitter gems:  From my stash

If you like my work and want me to continue to post, please let me know!  Thanks!

Co-Worker Birthday

I made this bright, fun card (which probably wasn't as bright as it shows in these pictures) for a co-worker's birthday.  She loves pink and green.  It was a lot of fun to make.

Here are the details:

Finished size:  5" x 5" gatefold -- I cut my paper 5" x 11" and then scored it at 3 1/2" and 8 1/2" (I think, and I don't have the card here with me obviously.).  I used a border punch on both edges of the 11" strip.    I added patterned paper from a K and Co. stack to both sides.
Cardstock:  Coordinations and Bazzill
Label:  Small label with "Happy Birthday" on it -- Nestabilities; Pink/blue frame label:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 4" and embossed
Rosette medallion flower:  instructions by spottedcanary can be found here on You Tube; circle and scalloped circle on top are punches; cupcake is a chipboard piece I found in my stash that worked perfectly
Butterfly:  McGill punch and then covered in Glossy Accents
Gems/Pearls:  From my stash
Ribbon:  Unknown (satin) -- If you look at the second picture, you can see how the ribbon is not really attached to the bow, but when the card is closed, it appears that it is attached.

I've also shown a close-up of the medallion and the embossing on the label.

Hope you are inspired and that you like it.  If you have questions, email me, or let me know in a comment.  Thanks for your kind words that make my day!

Miracles

Did anyone think I had disappeared off the face of the earth?  I was beginning to wonder about myself!  Ha!  Last weekend was a busy weekend.  Then we had revival at church that began on Sunday night and ran through Wednesday night.  Then our modem bit the dust, and a new one just arrived today via UPS.  Our UPS delivery man is lucky I didn't grab him and kiss him!  LOL.  I am such an internet junkie!

I made this card for a Deputy Sheriff from a small county in Virginia (where I am originally from) who was shot in the line of duty a month or so ago.  Two officers were killed, and one other officer was injured as well.  I actually graduated from high school with the shooter (who was shot and killed by the police), and no one seems to know why he went on a shooting rampage.  Anyway, the recipient of this card is paralyzed from the waist down as of now.  But, I heard that he was having some pain in his thighs and he told them they were hurting his feet when they were doing physical therapy.  So, I am praying that God will heal him, and he will walk again.  He is in Georgia in rehab.  He goes to church with my parents, and although I do not know him, I wanted to send him a card.  Thus, this card was made.

Here's how it was made:

Size:  A2
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Papers;  DCWV Linen Closet Stack
Frame:  Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge cut at 4 1/2" (I think)
I used my Stampin' Up punch for the corners. (I can't remember the name of this punch, and I can't find it in their catalog now.)
I printed the sentiment and cut it with one of my Nestabilities oval dies, and it was perfect with the frame!
Doilies:  Martha Stewart punch, with added pearls and gems.
I also used a Fiskars border punch (that you can barely see) and a little baker's twine.

Hope you like it, and have an awesome weekend!  I'd love to hear from you.  Your comments make my day.

Welcome Baby

I made this card for a baby shower at work.  The parents have chosen not to find out the sex of the baby, so I made the card suitable for either.  I tried not to put too much pink on the card.  I really have a feeling it is a boy.  We'll see in a month or so if I'm right!

Here are the details:

Size:  A2 -- with the bottom trimmed with a EK Success dotted wave border punch
Cardstock:  Coredinations, Bazzill, and DCWV Glitter
Patterned Paper:  DCWV Dots and Stripes mat stack
The green portion of the front was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder (the one that comes with the baby set).
I added a pink embossed strip in the space for a word.
The oval and scalloped oval are cut using the Baby Steps Cricut cartridge at 2 1/4"
Welcome Baby:  Cuttlebug die
The rattle was cut using the Baby Steps Cricut cartridge at 2 1/4" (I added a little bit of pink Stickles on the handle)
Stars are a punch
Mini rose:  Recollections
Funky clip:  From my stash

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

Still Love Birds . . .

I made this card for my parents' wedding anniversary -- 55 years.  Wow!  The inside of the card says, "after all these years.  Happy Anniversary."

Here are the details:

Card shape:  I used the next to the smallest Grand Nestabilities scalloped circle die.  I think the size of the card ended up being 5".
Circles:  I cut 3 at different sizes with different patterned papers using the Mini Monograms Cricut cartridge.
Birds/Love Birds:  Straight from the Nest Cricut cartridge cut at 2 1/4"
Flower:  My favorite handmade flower -- see this card for instructions.
Leaves:  Martha Stewart punch
"Still":  Computer generated and punched with a 1" circle punch and added to a 1 1/2" scalloped circle  which was also punched.
Gems:  From my stash

Hope you like it!

Twin Cards for Twin Friends!

These cards were made for two dear friends from high school.  When trying to think of something to put on their cards, I remembered this crazy picture from way back when -- on my 16th birthday.  We were having a PJ party.  These gals would put their hair on these huge rollers to straighten it (obviously back before flat irons), so I decided to put my hair in rollers as well.  What fun memories this picture brought back.  The inside says, "Let the good times 'roll' again.  Happy Birthday!"  I hope they enjoyed seeing it as much as I did.

I scanned the photo and printed it on cardstock.  I also used a Prima flower, some mini roses by Recollections, fibers from my stash, Nestabilities, circle and scalloped circle punches, a Martha Stewart leaf punch, and a few gems.  Simple but fun.

Hope you like them!

Welcome

I made this welcome sign for the Arts Council Campaign at work.  Every year people are asked to donate handcrafted items, which are then given away in drawings to employees who make donations to the local Arts Council.  I almost didn't make anything this year.  It seems that what most people want are the pottery items, not papercrafted items.  But, the night before the deadline, I felt guilty and thought I should contribute SOMETHING, so I bought this tray and altered it to be used as a welcome sign.  I finished it at 11:30 that night -- not bad, huh?

It is actually a metal candle tray that I found at Wal-Mart.  I love it!  Since the bottom was flat, it was perfect to add a word or pictures.
Size:  The tray was approximately 8" x 14" (can't remember for sure)
Welcome:  Cricut Storybook Font cut at 4 1/4"
Borders:  Martha Stewart and EKSuccess border punches
Flowers:  Prima, I Am Roses, and Unknown
Flourish:  Sizzix Die
Pearls:  Queen & Co.

This picture shows a closeup of the scroll work on the tray:

Thanks for much for looking, and be inspired!
