I used 8"x10" canvas that I bought at Wal-Mart. I don't remember how much I paid for the canvas, but it wasn't expensive, maybe $3 for a package of 3?? I covered the canvas in patterned paper, chalked the edges, punched holes with my Crop-a-Dile, and finished them as follows:
Isaiah's Plaque:
Isaiah's Room: Pooh Font Cricut cartridge -- Marker Feature, cut at 2"
Dinosaurs: Purple dinosaur -- Create A Critter Cricut cartridge at 3 1/2" (I think); green dinosaur -- Create A Critter at 2 1/2".
Border punch: EKSuccess
Ashlyn's Plaque:
Ashlyn's Room: Alphalicious Cricut cartridge -- shortstack feature, cut at 2"
Flowers: Nifties Fifties Cricut cartridge -- cut at 2"
Gems in center of flowers: Brads that I cut the backs off
Flower Border Punch -- Martha Stewart
Butterflies -- Martha Stewart Punch
I used Stickles with a foam brush to paint glitter over the entire canvas.
Hope you like them. My daughter seemed to be pleased.
Thanks for your sweet comments.

Those are adorable! I love your idea of using canvas and also the stickles idea!! I've also been spreading my stickles thin with a bruch on most of my crafts when it calls for a larger area to be covered. Who needs mounds and mounds of glitter...wait.. did I just say who needs glitter somebody shoot me!! hahaha They are precious and your grandchildren will adore them for a long time.
They came out really pretty.
Love the plaques. You did a wonderful job on them.
Tammy, these are just adorable and the grandkids are bound to love them and be so proud to hang them on their doors. Here's to a healthy, happy New Years~
