Let the Planning Begin!

Yep, we're having a wedding. My youngest daughter, Whitney, got an engagement ring on Wednesday night. Although Mom will be lost without her, I know this is what's supposed to happen, and I'll be okay. I want her to be happy, and that is much more important than my sadness over her leaving home. The empty nest sounds like a bad word to me right now! We've known the proposal was coming for about 6 weeks, when her boyfriend called and then came over and asked us for permission to propose to her. The good ole' southern tradition is alive and well! Our oldest daughter's husband did that as well before he proposed. This time, we just didn't know when it would be. He told us he would have to close on his house that he was building before he could get a ring. He closed on the house a couple of weeks ago, and he called me on Tuesday evening to let me know that he was going to pop the question on Wednesday. They went out to a nice restaurant to celebrate her passing her Dental Hygiene State Board Examination, and then they went back to his house. He had 2 dozen roses sitting on the hearth. When she went to pick up the card, the ring was in a rose shaped box (with the lid open) behind the card. When she turned around, he was on one knee and told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and that he didn't want the house to be his house, he wanted it to be their house. How sweet! He was even teary eyed. He's an awesome guy and a perfect match for her. God has blessed us with one great son-in-law already, and now we'll have two. Thank you Lord for your blessings. Our oldest daughter and her family spent the night with us. I went to bed at midnight, and at 2:00 a.m. I woke up and noticed that the porch light was on. I got up to turn it off, thinking that the girls had forgotten it. They were still sitting at the kitchen table just chatting away. It gave me much joy to see the two of them having so much fun.

Here are a few pictures that we took on Wednesday night at Jordan's house.
