Random Togetherness

It was so fun to scrapbook today.  This is a layout I've had on my table for a couple of weeks, but have only worked on it a little at a time.  Since Christmas is over, maybe now I'll have a little more time to get into the scrapbook room.

These were a bunch of random "couple" pictures I took last year when we went to Daytona Beach to celebrate Whitney's graduation.  So, I decided to put them all together and gave it this title.  Hope you like it!

If I make the picture any bigger, only half of it shows up.  Therefore, double click on it to see a bigger version.

Merry Christmas!

If you stop by my blog today, please know that even though lots of you stop by, and don't leave comments, I appreciate the fact that you want to stop by.  (And if you decide to leave a comment, that would make my day!)

I pray that God will bless you on this Christmas day.  It is a special day to me, and I hope it is to you as well.

Want Some Christmas Candy?

I made this cute candy gift and put it on eBay. It would be great for a co-worker or teacher!

Hopefully, someone will think it's cute!

On your birthday . . .

I made this card for one of my best friends for her birthday. She loves bright colors, so I made this one bright just for her. I love the Spellbinders Shapeabilities fleur de lis die, but it sure was hard to get it to cut and get it out of the die. Then I remembered reading somewhere that the secret was to use wax paper between your paper and the die. It worked like a charm!

Your Birthday is Something to Crow About

I made this birthday card for my cousin who is in prison. (He's never hurt anyone. He is in there because he's struggled with drug addiction since he was a teenager -- kept getting caught, violating probation, etc., and the Judge ended up sending him to prison for 12 years -- toooooooo long!!!). I haven't seen him in years, but after he was sent to prison, I felt the need to reconnect with him. I'm so glad I did. He seems thrilled to have someone care about him and take the time to write a letter. And I have sent him pictures of our grandparents that he says he treasures. He and I have been writing back and forth for the past few years. His letters are amazing. And he truly hopes that when he gets out in 3 years, he will be able to repay his family for the heartache he's put them through. I pray he will be able to avoid the temptations of drugs again! I HATE drugs!!!

Anyway, I cannot put a brad or anything hard on the cards I make for him, or the prison will reject them. And, the card can't weigh over an ounce, or they will reject it. After finishing this card last night, I realized it is square, which will add extra postage, and I'm afraid they won't let him have it! Duh! Why didn't I think of that? So, shortly after taking this picture, I cut it down in size and made it sort of like a postcard and put white cardstock on the back and wrote his message on there. I'll remember "no square cards" the next time!

Cherished Memories

This is a layout I made for eBay with cuts from the "A Child's Year" cartridge. I love how the colors turned out! Wish me luck with this one!

So Proud

This is the third (and last) layout for my daughter's graduation. She graduated with a degree in dental hygiene and painted an adorable tooth on her cap, so I included a picture of it on the layout. You could find her in the crowd for sure!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, full of good food and fun times with family and friends. Take the time today to reflect on God's blessings in your life. You'll be glad you did. And, make sure that you tell someone today how grateful you are to have them in your life.

Here is a quote I found that I wanted to share.

Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses;
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes;
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears;
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean;
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.

Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Card

This is a quick card I made for my cousin and his new wife. Well, I guess she isn't so new. They got married in July! I'm so bad! I purchased a gift card for them in August, and I just got around to making a card to send to them. And I did this one quickly. Between work, grandbabies, and life in general, I don't get as much time to make things as I'd like. I'm not complaining though -- work pays the bills, the grandbabies are precious, and life in general is great! I enjoy the few hours I can manage to get in my scrapbook room.

Forever Young Birthday Card

This is a birthday card that I made over the weekend for a sweet co-worker. I think the sentiment really describes her. She has lots of nieces and nephews, and loves them all so much. I think they help keep her young! And of course having such a "young" friend like me doesn't hurt! LOL.

Hope you like her card! TFL.

Hey Neighbor Birthday Card

This was the card I made for my neighbor's birthday, the 15 year old that helped me with my blog header. He is always so sweet to help take care of our beagle, Lexi, when we go out of town, so I thought he'd like a card from her. Of course, he loves computers too, so I incorporated the two into his card. The inside said, "Wanna share some cake?"
Hope you like it!

My New Header

Isn't my new header great??? My 15 year old neighbor (yep, you heard it, 15) made it for me! And he just turned 15 on Monday. Kids these days are so computer savvy!

Thank you Adam from the bottom of my heart!

Worth It All!

I did this layout several weeks ago, but just realized that I didn't post it here. It precedes my layout entitled "A Cause for Celebration." This is the awards ceremony from Whitney's dental hygiene program. The girls had all taken their State Boards but had not gotten their grades yet. The teachers unrolled a banner that read, "You All Passed Boards." There was hardly a dry eye in the room, including mine. Whitney was so relieved because the whole program had been so hard, and the test was too! I was one proud Mom!

A Cause for Celebration

These pictures were taken after Whitney's awards ceremony for the dental hygiene program. We took a few pictures and then headed to Tripps for a yummy dinner!

Set of Gift Card Holders

I finally got around to making a little something for the Pocket Full of Papers handmade gift challenge. I made these cute little gift card holders earlier in the week, but didn't get them listed until tonight because our weather has been so yucky, and I couldn't get good pictures.

Wish me luck with them. They really are cute!

Family Portraits

I love these photos! They turned out so good. I am so blessed with such a wonderful family. I smile every time I look at the one of the whole family.

Christmas Challenge Card

I made this card for the Pocket Full of Papers card challenge going on this week. I hope you'll check out my card, as well as the wonderful work of the other designers!

It Takes A Long Time to Grow An Old Friend Card

This started out as a get well card for one of my best friends, who had a freak accident a few weeks ago. She took her dog to the vet for shots. She was holding the dog and told the vet tech that she would bite her. The vet tech asked her to hold the dog and then reached for the dog from behind. The dog turned around and bit my friend on the hand (trying to get to the vet tech of course). My friend called me on her way home, and we actually laughed about her dog biting her. Four hours later, she called to say that she was in the ER -- that her hand was hurting so bad that she decided to get it checked out. She ended up in the hospital for 4 days and had two surgeries on her hand. Thank goodness she is going to be okay! She is one of the best friends that anyone could ever have, and I've had her for 21 years! When I saw this sentiment, the card evolved into a "I'm so thankful for you" card.

So Blessed Layout

I decided that since my layout didn't sell on eBay in an 8 x 10 frame, maybe it will sell as a 12 x 12 layout. I really do like this layout. The pink/black are so much prettier in real life!

Hope you'll check it out, and send someone to eBay that doesn't like to scrapbook themselves! LOL.

Welcome to 50

I made this card for a co-worker who is turning 50 today. I decided not to give her too much grief over turning the big 5-0!

The 50 and the labels behind the 50 were cut from the Winter Woodlands Cricut cartridge.

He Will Wipe Every Tear From Their Eyes

I made this sympathy card for my former co-worker whose nephew passed away a couple of weeks ago. I know she is going through some tough days because she loved this little boy like a brother. She spent so much time with him, and was there until the end.

A New Angel Has Just Gotten His Wings

Remember the beagle card? Yep, the one I made for the little boy with neuroblastoma? This is the sympathy card I made for his parents. I hope somehow it helps to know that I care, although I've never even met them. (I did meet the little boy once, and he will always have a special place in my heart.) The sentiment on the inside of the card also said, "You have my sympathy and prayers as you grieve for your angel."

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

These cards were made for made for a wonderful friend I have on the west coast. She and I met through a scrapbooking message board, and we email each other daily. We've even talked on the phone several times. I hope that someday we can meet in person! Anyway, she and her daughter sent a huge box of clothing for my granddaughter (clothes her granddaughters have outgrown), and then she was nice enough to print invitations for my grandson's party and wouldn't let me pay her a dime. So, I wanted to make thank you cards for her and her daughter. This is what I came up with. The coffee pot card is for my friend, and the ice cream soda card is her daughter's card.

Fair Fun

We had a blast at the local fair this weekend. We met my daughter and her family there. We watched the Figure 8 races (sort of like a demolition derby), watched Ashlyn ride the kiddie rides, ate some great food (frozen chocolate covered cheesecake was my favorite), watched Isaiah be indifferent to it all, and found that I had won some blue ribbons for my layouts. Here are a few pictures of the fair fun!

My Scrap Pink Calendar

As I posted last week, the ladies at Pocket Full of Papers are doing a challenge this week, with a portion of our proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
I decided to do this adorable 2010 chipboard desk calendar, complete with a little display holder and a beautiful album in which to store the pieces of chipboard for the calendar months.
Here are just a few of the pictures. Of course you can see everything on eBay! If you would like to bid for a great cause, I invite you to come on over to eBay and check out our listings!

TIA!

Prayers please . . .

This is a card I made for a former co-worker's nephew who has been fighting neuroblastoma for about 4 years. I met this special little boy one time. He loves beagles, and since I do too, I decided to make this card for him. I put on the inside of the card that I was sending hugs and Lexi (our beagle) was sending slobbery kisses. I printed a photo of Lexi and included it with the card. I mailed the card last Tuesday, the day he went into the hospital with a fever of 103. He's been struggling since, and I've learned today that he passed away early this morning. I feel so bad because I should have mailed his card sooner!

Please, please say a prayer for the Koontz family. My heart breaks for them.

PFOP - Scrap Pink Week

The girls at Pocket Full of Papers, the design team on eBay that I am a part of, are doing a challenge beginning October 4th. Everyone on the team will be listing at least one item using the color pink, and a portion of the ending bid amount will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I ask you to consider checking out our listings next week and bidding on some great items!

This Place Is A Zoo

I had so many photos that it was tough figuring out how to arrange this one. I took over 100 pictures that day, and I ended up with very few with the animals in them. Of course, the people are the most important thing anyway. Hope you like our memories of our trip to the zoo!

Hunting Eggs

Ashlyn had a blast last year hunting eggs at our house on Easter Sunday. As you can see from the pictures, they were hidden in some pretty unusual spots, including the dog's bowl (empty of course). I used the Cricut Winter Woodland cartridge for the title and the large tag (that is mostly hidden behind the pictures). I'm loving this cartridge!

A Little Privacy Please!

I think I'm going to really like the Cricut Sweethearts cartridge, and I got it cheap -- a good combination! These pictures were taken of Ashlyn last year as we were getting ready to go to the zoo. She decided she needed to potty. Of course I thought she looked so cute with those sunglasses, I had to grab the camera! Don't ya know she's going to be so mad at me when she's 16!

It's All About The Cross . . . Walk

A layout I've been working on all week! The journaling tells the story:

Several of us from church decided to participate in the 2008 Cross Walk on Good Friday. It began at Oak Forest United Methodist Church and proceeded to Midway United Methodist Church. What a blessing to see people carrying a replica of the cross that Jesus died upon. It truly made me mindful of the fact that Jesus bore a cross, was beaten, and then died on it for us. At the end of the walk, we gathered in the cemetery at Midway for a short service. Shortly after we arrived, someone yelled, “Look -- In the Sky!” When I looked up, there was a perfectly formed cross, made by the vapors of jets. It was a gift from God to us.

Age is Just a Number!

I made this card for a co-worker who refuses to tell her age. The inside of the card says, "Yours just happens to be unlisted." Hope you like it!

Our Angel Waits in Heaven

Boy, was this page hard to make! This is my tribute to my granddaughter, Caroline, who I never got to hold. My daughter had a miscarriage last year at 13 weeks. I've included the journaling because it tells the story of what happened. I've been putting off making this page, but decided that I wanted to go ahead and make it. I cried when I finished this page because I had told myself that I really wanted this page to be special, and when I finished, I didn't think it was special enough. I don't know if any page could be special enough though. 8o)

You'll notice the word "Lift" below the picture. When you lift the photo mat up, it has my journaling as follows: I never got to hold Baby Caroline, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love her. I still remember the Mad Gab game card that Joey made that said, “Corn Knees Pre Egg Gnat.” They were playing the game on my birthday, and called me to come and help because Jordan “wasn’t getting it.” I got it within a few seconds, but I couldn’t figure out how that could be on a Mad Gab card. It looked so real! Needless to say, Joey was disappointed and said, “Well, that didn’t work out like I planned.” Courtney was so sick with this baby, just like she was with Ashlyn. Then on April 1st, at 13 weeks pregnant, she called me to say that she thought something might be wrong. She thought she might be leaking fluid. She called the doctor, who told her to come on in. I met her and Joey at the doctor’s office. When Dr. Greene came into the examination room, she did not realize that this was not a regular checkup. She had the nurse bring in a portable ultrasound machine. She did a quick ultrasound and examined Courtney. She said that she was encouraged, and she saw no signs of a miscarriage. But, she sent us next door for a complete ultrasound. The technician took a few quick pictures and left the room, saying that the doctor would be in shortly. Immediately, Courtney mentioned that she did not hear a heartbeat. I tried to encourage her by saying that they were not looking for a heartbeat. They were looking for fluid, since that was her original concern. A few minutes later, the doctor came in and said there were some problems with the baby. First, the baby’s bladder was extended. He pulled the ultrasound picture back up and showed us the little bubble that was extended up over the baby’s body. (I will never forget seeing those perfect little hands in that picture.) And then he said that they could not find a heartbeat. Courtney immediately started to sob, and so did I. My heart broke for my child! As a Mom, you want to fix everything, and I couldn’t fix it! The doctor went on to explain that it appeared that the baby’s urethra did not develop, which caused the bladder to extend once the baby started to produce urine. That poisoned the baby, and caused it to die. He discussed the possible causes (his theory was that it was genetic), and said that they would need to schedule a D&C. After he left the room, Courtney and Joey held each other and cried. After a couple of minutes, I saw Courtney’s hand raise up, reaching for me. I went to her and held her hand. I then decided to give them a few minutes alone, so I left the room. Two days later, Courtney had a D&C, and the baby was tested to see if the cause could be determined. Courtney had specifically told the doctor that she did not want to know the baby’s sex. Two weeks later, the doctor left Courtney a voicemail saying that the baby was normal, that the problem was not caused by genetics (which was a blessing), and the baby was a girl. Courtney was so upset all over again because knowing that the baby was a girl made her seem so much more real! She called me at work, and I drove to her office and just sat and held her while she cried. A few weeks later, she told me that they had decided to give the baby a name, Caroline. Although we know that we won’t see her until we get to heaven, we know that God is taking good care of her, and she will forever be in our hearts. Thanks for looking, and I apologize for the long post!

Relax Birthday Card

A card made for my brother-in-law's birthday. He turned 49, so the inside of the card said, "Because next year you'll be turning 50!" I do not like this card at all -- not sure why -- maybe it's the colors.

Sweet Birthday

I keep getting further and further behind in my scrapping! This layout is from my oldest daughter's 27th birthday in 2008. And now with Isaiah here, I need to get busy! LOL.

I chose the bright colored papers for this layout to match her cake.

Welcome Baby Isaiah!

Welcome to the world my new grandson, Isaiah. What a blessing from heaven. He was born on August 14th at 7:24 a.m. He looks just like his big sister did when she was born. I am so excited to get him here finally. And a special blessing was that he was born on my late grandmother's birthday. Now I have a new subject for my scrapbooks! Here are a few pictures of my Sweet Pea!
