Building a Dream

My soon-to-be son-in-law is a general contractor. He built a new home this year. It was obvious from the beginning that although he had not popped the question, he was planning to ask our daughter to marry him. She helped him pick out carpet, paint, countertops, and pretty much everything else. Within 2 weeks after he closed on the house and moved in, he gave her an engagement ring. We knew it was coming! I did this layout to showcase the pictures of his house in progress.

Baking Memories

These pictures were taken last year of my daughters and granddaughter making sugar cookies. They love making them, although we rarely ever eat them. By the time they handle the dough for 10 minutes, the cookies usually end up being hard. But the fun is still there, so we still make them.

My First Card from the 2 Sketches 4 You Site!

Although I've looked at Laura & Kazan's sketch site several times (see blog here), I've never tried to do a card from one of their fantastic sketches. I decided I wanted to try this one. Here's the sketch --

Here's a birthday card I came up with using the sketch -- it has so much more dimension than the photo shows! I even tried to take pictures to show the dimension, but they really weren't a good comparison to the real thing!

This was so much fun!

Get Well Card for Mom

I made this get well card for my Mom, who has been in the hospital since Wednesday. She appreciates handmade cards. When she found out that I was making cards a couple of years ago, she went through all of her craft stuff and gave me lots of buttons, etc. She gave me the gold accent piece that is on the front of the card, so I thought it was appropriate to use it on her card.

Our Tree-mendous Little Helper

I've been wanting to make a layout with black and white photos for a while. I'm not sure I love this, but it's okay. It really does look better in person. These pictures are of our granddaughter helping to decorate the tree last year.

Harriet's Belated Birthday Card

I made this card for my co-worker who celebrated her birthday on the 15th. She was out of town until the 18th, and of course then I was out of town for my grandma's funeral. So, I finally got her card made and changed the sentiment to match my tardiness in getting it to her. The inside says, "are just so flaky!" She loves snowmen, so I knew I wanted a snowman theme to her card.

Until I see you in heaven Mammaw . . .

My last living grandparent passed away on the 16th at the age of 92. Her health had really been declining for the past few years, and she spent most of her days in bed. She had 24 hour care, between two ladies who came to stay with her during the day, and my uncle and his wife who moved in with her and of course were there with her at night. She was a sweet lady, and lots of family members said that I looked like her mother. We have video from 20 years ago of her prancing into the kitchen at Christmas toward the camera and saying, "Here I am! Here I am! Here I am!" The first thing my daughter said when I told her that she had passed away was, "I bet Mammaw went up to the pearly gates and said, "Here I am! Here I am! Here I am!" It sure made me smile. The last few times I had visited her, I would walk out of her house and cry because I was afraid it was the last time I would see her. I will miss visiting her so much, but I know my grandpa was happy to see her in heaven. What a reunion that must have been. I love you Mammaw!

Snowmen are so flaky!

I started out making a snowman, and he/she ended up on this card. I've decided I love snowmen!

Call if You "Knee'd" Me!

A friend had surgery this week on her knee. I wanted to make her a card, and this was the only sentiment that kept coming to me. I hope she sees the humor in it.
I hated the colors on this card but was determined to use these papers. It's just "okay." :o)

Get Well Card for Beth

I made this card for a friend from church who had surgery last week. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder that I hadn't used in a long time. I also used the SU word window punch for the sentiment, a flower punch (punched twice), and a nestabilities die for the scalloped rectangle. Oh yeah, and I used the Martha Stewart double scallop punch as well. TFL.

Lexi

In my last post, the one about the Christmas album, I stated that our beagle had a seizure on Saturday night. Here is a picture of my sweet doggie. Those eyes and ears get me every time! What can I say, I'm a sucker for a dog!

Christmas Chipboard Album

I've been working on this album for over a week. With Halloween, church meetings, dance lessons (yep, we are taking shagging lessons so we can dance at our daughter's wedding), and work, it is hard to find time to do the scrapbooking that I enjoy so much. And to top it all off, the dog had a petite mal seizure on Saturday night, which just scared me to death. We had a yorkshire terrier who started having seizures when she was 14, and it really was the beginning of the end for her. Lexi (a beagle) is only 3 though. I can't stand the thoughts of losing her! I'll try to post a picture of her in a few minutes.

Anyway, here is my album that I've listed on eBay. I hope you like it. I hope someone likes it enough to buy it. I've had no luck with eBay lately at all. So many people seemed to like my Halloween layout, but after listing it twice, I give up. :o(

If you'd like to see more of the detail and pages, you can look at the auction itself.

Sympathy Card

This was made for a former co-worker whose son committed suicide. I pray that God will give her peace.

Praying for You Card

I made this card for a friend who has been having a tough time lately. Who doesn't need to hear that someone has been praying for them?

Happy Birthday Cheryl!

A co-worker is celebrating her birthday today. She always gives me a hard time about being older than her -- even if it's only 8 months. The "old" jokes sometimes get us through a tough moment at work, so I don't mind. Of course I had to give her a hard time, since she is now as old as me!

The inside of the card says (I think -- I don't have the card here with me), "And think about the fact that you're now as old as me!"

I spent many hours on this layout and think it turned out pretty cute. You can click on the picture to see it better, or go to the auction.

Monkey Business

These pictures were taken last year at Christmas. Here is the journaling: Ashlyn was a monkey in New Hope Baptist Church’s production of “A King Is Coming to Town.” Courtney stood on one end of the gym and told her to run to Joey, who was standing on the other end of the gym. She ran across in front of the singers/actors during the jungle song. Of course the timing was perfect during the songs, and someone chased her with a net (and she never knew it). She did so good for a two year old!

Everybody loves a parade

I finished this earlier simple layout this week but didn't get a picture taken until today. Photos of Ashlyn's first parade last year.

Thanks for my boss

Since today is boss' day (or bosses' day - I've seen it so many ways), I made this card for my boss.

I got to scrapbook -- yeah!

After two crazy busy weekends, I had some free time and took advantage of it by scrapbooking. I invited my neighbor over, and the two of us had a lot of fun scrapbooking and catching up while our husbands watched the NASCAR race. I re-did my two title borders that didn't sell on eBay and made them into layouts. Click on the pictures for a better view.

A Hee Haw Christmas

For the past several years my Circle (ladies' group at church) has done a variety show to raise money for missions. We provide a meal and then do a little variety show with skits and singing. We usually try to act very goofy, and I think we do a good job at that! LOL. Last year we did "A Hee Haw Christmas." These are photos from the show. I always do goofy sign language as "Sister Tammy Faye." I get so many requests, specifically from the older folks at church, to do this. I've told them that Sister Tammy Faye has retired! LOL. There is one photo on this layout of me doing my sign language, although it is very blurry.

A Card for a Great Principal

Our ladies group at church recently found a local school that has many kids attending that are living in poverty. The principal is a wonderful woman who is doing so much to help these children and their families. She says it is her God called mission to be there to try to help. She's set up a fund that people donate to so shoes can be purchased for needy children, or clothes, or whatever. She is trying to get a single mother's power turned back on (which we are helping with) that has been off since June. We wanted to send her a card to tell her how much we appreciate her doing what God is leading her to do. So, here's the card I made. The inside says, "Just as you are being a blessing to others."

Wedding Ribbon Plate

I took my ribbon plate (which I love by the way) (I can't remember where it came from -- maybe Southern Living At Home?), and decided to decorate it with cuts from my Cricut for a little reception I'm hosting this weekend for my brother-in-law and his new wife. The only people at their wedding back in July was them and the preacher. So, I'm having dinner, a wedding cake, punch, and music this weekend to celebrate. This will sit on the piano. Hope you like it!

A sympathy card for Harriet

A sweet coworker lost her Mom last weekend. Even though her Mom was 87, Harriet still wasn't ready to lose her. We never are! I talked to her this week and told her I thought her Mom will be waiting for her when she gets to heaven. I hope this card brings her comfort in a small way.

The Beauty of Fall

I have really enjoyed making this border. I love the colors of fall! This is now listed on eBay. Cross your fingers for me that it sells!

Shortly After Sugar

For some reason, these are the only pictures I took last year on Thanksgiving Day. Ashlyn was wild -- obviously a little too much sugar from eating dessert! Of course I had to scrapbook her wild side! LOL.

A Proud Moment

These pictures were taken of me at the fair last year when I discovered I had won some red, white, and even blue ribbons for my layouts. I was a happy gal!

Three Sympathy Cards

I made these three sympathy cards today. I've decided I am in love with these new Cuttlebug embossing folders, now that I figured out a way to use them!

Hope you like the cards!

Happy Birthday Mickey!

Today is my friend Mickey's birthday. I made plans to meet her for breakfast this morning. She didn't think I knew that today was her birthday. Since her husband passed away in July, I thought this would be a tough birthday for her, and wanted to try to make the day special for her. I bought her a little birthday cake and made this card for her. She is working today (sitting with an elderly lady), so I thought she could share the cake with her.

The little charm (that isn't hanging correctly so you can see it) has a little bible on it.

eBay Layout and Border

I've had this idea in my head for a while to do a chicken pox layout, so I decided to go for it. I hope it's not sitting in my scrapbook room 6 months from now! You just never know with eBay! Just because I think something is cute doesn't mean it will sell.

And I had some leftover paper, so I decided to make another title border. Hopefully, it will sell too!

Two Cards for Co-Workers

I made these cards late last night when I suddenly remembered that two co-workers are celebrating birthdays this week. They were done pretty quickly. I can always depend on my Cricut and Cuttlebug to get me through in a pinch!

Family Getaway

I did this layout to commemorate the trip my husband's family took to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee last fall. It's pretty simple, but I like the way it turned out.

Jordan's Crazy Birthday Card!

Okay, this birthday card is way out there, but I couldn't think of anything to put in Jordan's card. I really like to personalize my cards with something that the recipient likes. He loves to hunt, and particularly loves to duck hunt, so I decided after thinking about it for hours that this would work. I hope he likes it, or at least doesn't think it is stupid!

The inside says, "Stop worrying about that birthday cake and get to doing target practice! Hunting seasons's coming up soon! Happy Birthday!"

Encouragement Cards

A friend asked me to make two encouragement cards for her -- one to give a co-worker, who is trying to live a Christian life, and one for her daughter, who has started to attend church, after her Dad passed away in July. This is what I came up with. The first one is for the co-worker, and it has nothing on the inside, so that my friend can write a personal note.

The second one is for her daughter. On the inside left, I put, "Draw Near to God, and He Will Draw Near To You. James 4:8." I left the inside right blank so that she can write a personal note.

Mom's Birthday Verse Card

Although it doesn't look like a birthday card, it is! I wanted to put a Bible verse on my Mom's card and did a search via Google which brought me to this website:

It has a verse for every person's birthday, and since I thought this verse seemed appropriate for what my Mom foresees as the stressful things in her life, I used it!

Daughters are the Flowers of Life!

I posted this on eBay last week, but forgot to post it here. It already has a bid. Woo hoo! I'm happy with how it turned out. I love the dimension of the butterflies and flowers!

Happy Birthday Steve!

It seems that this is the month of birthdays and anniversaries for our family. Today is my sweet brother-in-law's birthday. I made this card and sent it to him. The inside says, "To a WISE guy."
